Cote d'Ivoire: A Case Study in Polio Eradication

Health workers in Côte d’Ivoire maneuver through villages in long car rides and traffic jams to try to reach every child with the polio vaccine during the country’s National Immunization Day. After navigating difficult terrain, the vaccinators must then carefully administer two drops of vaccine to every child five and under. The health teams keep careful record of their progress. Across an entire country they immunize every child under the age of five: more than 7 million children. Watch how Rotary and its partners work together to keep polio out of a West African nation.
